Put the Apron On!

It's not an April Fool's Joke Apron Strings - my favorite kit club - has a new site! Check out all the fabulousness here!

Speaking of Apron Strings I wanted to share with you a layout using just one of the three lines in the kit. The lines in the kit are Authentique Sprin , Echo Park All About Boy, and American Crafts Soho.

The American Crafts Soho line has patterned paper on one side of its bar code strip. I like getting those little bonuses of fun paper to use for mats, borders, etc. On my "The Plces We Go" layout I used them as borders around my large banner pieces.
I cut them in half and placed them just on the edge of my large banner pieces. Alot of layering look for not alot of paper!

My Sketch World Blog Hop

Image

Welcome to My Sketch World Blog Hop!

Sketches, sketches oh how I love sketches.I cannot start a layout with a sketch in my hand! And I can't wait to show off the March sketch from Lucy Chesna!

I am so excited to be part of the rockin' My Sketch World Design Team!
I am Kristin Perez. Mother to Priscilla and Amory, wife to Victor, daughter of Phil and Susan, sister to Bubba (aka Brian), and best friend to Kami, Sarah and Christian. I am a lover of thrift stores, resale shops and flea markets. I am obsessed with saving money and won’t buy it unless it is on sale, clearance or I have a coupon. I love to read a good book - historical Christian romances are my favorite with anything my daughter asks me to read coming in at a close second.
Here is the layout sketch

My example using the sketch!

October Afternoon - Across the Years

I have a confession.
I am a collector.
A collector of any and all October Afternoon products.
I am forcing myself to use it - although there are a few pieces I just cannot get myself to cut into.

I used five different collections to complete a layout for the scrapbook I am working on for a friend.
I used paper from 2008 (Daydreams), papers from 2010 (Campfire, Modern Homemaker), and stickers from 2010 (Seaside). The postcard diecut is also October Afternoon although I have no idea what collection it is from!

I completed a sketch for a challenge at the Paper Secrets blog.
Look at this sketch!

And here is my interpretation!
Home Sweet Home

Authentique

I had so much fun playing with the Apron Strings Smaller than a Breadbox kit. It was filled with
Authentique Thankful; Jillibean Country Pumpkin Chowder; Simple Stories Harvest Lane.

I chose the paper to make a layout about our trip to George Ranch. The paperrs were perfect for these pictures!
I used a sketch challenge on the Authentique Blog to complete this one!

The Family Cart

With leftovers I made a Thanksgving card. I used a color pallette challenge found on the Authentique blog as well.
Here is the color challenge -

And My Card!

Authentique Products Used:
"remember" 12x12 paper
"giving" 12x12 paper
"elements" 12x8 sticker

MSW and Apron Strings

I combined the My Sketch World November 1st sketch with the Apron Strings Smaller than a Breadbox kit for this layout. The kit was filled with
Authentique Thankful; Jillibean Country Pumpkin Chowder; Simple Stories Harvest Lane
and I had so much fun creating with it!

The sketch from My Sketch World -

As you can see I turned the sketch on its side!
My title was inspired by a favorite song of mine "This Is The Stuff" by Francesca Battistelli. You can hear it on her site!

Giraffes and Babies ... So Cute!

One last card I created from my Apron Strings Bigger Than A Breadbox Kit fron August. The back side of the Splash Paper from the Echo Park Paradise Beach screamed giraffe to me! I could not wait to create some giraffes to decorate a card for a friend's baby!

I used the word "water baby" from the Beach Bum paper. Of course cutting away the water part!
and
To make the giraffes I
 - Searched for images of "cartoon giraffes"
- I found an image that I liked and printed it out
- I cut it out and traced it on the back of the paper
 - Cut my finished giraffes out and placed them on the card
You could do this with any animal! How about a lion and include the sentiment I am not "lion"!

Thank you for stopping by and have a blessed day,

In One Afternoon ...

I HEART October Afternoon!
In the Apron Strings Bigger Than A Breadbox Kit for August I found Echo Park Paradise Beach and October Afternoon 9 to 5.
I have been wanting the 9 to 5 line and knew if I was patient enough I would find it in my kit eventually! And the patience worked - finally I had the 9 to 5 line in my little hands! After just staring at it and saying how cute is that  about a hundred times I took a deep breath and cut into it!
And a flurry of flying paper later I had layouts and cards I was happy with!
This first layout is of the girls (and myself - what I am in a pic?) at George Ranch writing with a quill pen. The ink stayed on our fingers for three days - and yes we bathed and washed our hands in that time.
Feather Pen

This next layout is of Amory at the Children's Museum in an area called Kidtropolis. The children get to "work at a job", receive a "paycheck", and then "grocery shop". I could not pull them out of this section and we spent the majority of the day in Kidtropolis!
My favorite part of the layout has to be the upc codes I cut from the bottom strips to make flags. Utilize all of the paper - not only the true paper but the strips too!
Check It Out

And a few cards made with the October Afternoon (and a smidge of Echo Park)!
