Apron Strings June Reveal - KaiserCraft

Good evening everyone! As promised I wanted to share the other half of my Apron Strings Bigger Than a Breadbox June Kit. The papers were from KaiserCraft's Rock Pool. The colors were gorgeous and I couldn't wait to scrap the girls' and I's adventure to the aquarium with our friends. We visit the aquarium every year the Friday before school starts again. This tradition is made more special by the people who take care of us when we get there. This first layout is about the little man who leads our storytime each year. The children love him and he loves them. He doesn't just read stories, he plays a harmonica and sings too!
You Have My Attention

Since Priscilla and my best friend's son Neo is so much older than the rest of the group they receive a special scavenger hunt that they take very seriously. They are determined to find everything on the list!
Mission Possible

This last project was something that Amory and I worked on together. She loves poetry - and is quite the rhyming expert. We cut apart words from the Rock Pool High Tide paper and printed a few of our own words in the same colors and font. We wrote out Amory's favorite poem using the words, diecuts (the watermelon is from the My Mind's Eye Sunny Side half of the kit), and paper. She is already filling the book with great poetry!

MME - Apron Strings June Reveal

Happy First Day of Summer!

I told the kids that it was a national holiday today so everyone could celebrate summer and everything closed at noon. This was a feeble although successful attempt at staying home. So far it has worked - I am not driving anyone anywhere, waiting in a parking lot or waiting area to pick anyone up, or standing in the hot sun watching while my children play. So I call it a success!

I wanted to share with you the appropriately named My Mind's Eye Sunny Side projects from my June Apron Strings Bigger than a Breadbox kit.

These papers were very appropriate for the pictures from my father in law's birthday party.

The first one is pictures of us with our aunts Doe and Karen - they are very special people to us!

I loved the list card that was in the kit - it was very fun to list what was our favorite things about Doe and Karen. Like Doe is a big kid and has pet attack rooster and that Karen is a mothering personality with the inside scoop on everything at Walmart.

The next layout is a favorite just because it makes me giggle! This is Amory and her cousin Alyssa after too much ice cream at the party. Make sure you click on the layout to open it bigger to see Amory and Alyssa's faces. They were definitely hurting! The smaller picture is the proof -

Jar of Fun - A Tutorial

Hello everyone! I wanted to share a tutorial for a super simple Father's Day gift. I made a jar filled with corn nuts, peanuts and cashews and placed a tag on it that reads "Nuts About You Daddy". You could fill this with almost anything and create a funny and punny tag of your own!

***I want it to be known before we go any further that this only my second tutorial and my***

 six year took some of these pictures. Cute as a bug she - cute as a shutter bug not so much!

Instructions For Father’s Day Jar

The jar - I got this jar from Walmart - $3.00! And as a bonus you get to see the mess that my desk is!

For the collar and shirt front-

1. Cut two strips of paper (I chose this “pin stripe” from October Afternoon - find it here in the Apron Strings store) at 1 ¼ X 12. Cut one of those in half so you have one piece at 1 ¼ X 6.
2. Cut two rectangles measuring 3 X 2 from the same paper.

To create the shirt front -

      3.  Take your 3 X 2 rectangles and make these cut marks on one rectangle:

and

       4.   So you have this now - cut this out!

         5.   Place this piece on top of the other 3 X 2 rectangle on the reverse side of pattern paper.       

         6.   Trace and cut out!

           7.   Overlap the 1 ¼ X 12 and 1 ¼ X 6 by ¼” and glue together. So you have these 3 pieces that will create your collar and shirt front!

For the tie piece -

        1.  Cut one 3 X 4 rectangle.
(I used a piece of the Kaiser Craft Rock Pool for my demo and a piece of My Mind’s Eye Sunny Side for the final product - both found in the Apron Strings Bigger Than a Breadbox June Kit)

          2.  Fold the rectangle in half and cut into a point. Fold gently so as not to create a crease.

           3.  Make the following cut mark on one side of your rectangle.

            4.  Fold gently in half, line up edges and cut along your mark.

             5.  Your finished tie piece -

To put it all together -

Place the long collar strip around jar leaving a small gap in front. I used two sided tape to adhere the strip, tie and shirt pieces.

Place tie even with top of long collar piece.

Place shirt pieces even with top of collar and tie.
