October Afternoon - Across the Years

I have a confession.
I am a collector.
A collector of any and all October Afternoon products.
I am forcing myself to use it - although there are a few pieces I just cannot get myself to cut into.

I used five different collections to complete a layout for the scrapbook I am working on for a friend.
I used paper from 2008 (Daydreams), papers from 2010 (Campfire, Modern Homemaker), and stickers from 2010 (Seaside). The postcard diecut is also October Afternoon although I have no idea what collection it is from!

I completed a sketch for a challenge at the Paper Secrets blog.

In One Afternoon ...

I HEART October Afternoon!
In the Apron Strings Bigger Than A Breadbox Kit for August I found Echo Park Paradise Beach and October Afternoon 9 to 5.
I have been wanting the 9 to 5 line and knew if I was patient enough I would find it in my kit eventually! And the patience worked - finally I had the 9 to 5 line in my little hands! After just staring at it and saying how cute is that  about a hundred times I took a deep breath and cut into it!
And a flurry of flying paper later I had layouts and cards I was happy with!
This first layout is of the girls (and myself - what I am in a pic?) at George Ranch writing with a quill pen. The ink stayed on our fingers for three days - and yes we bathed and washed our hands in that time.

This next layout is of Amory at the Children's Museum in an area called Kidtropolis. The children get to "work at a job", receive a "paycheck", and then "grocery shop". I could not pull them out of this section and we spent the majority of the day in Kidtropolis!
My favorite part of the layout has to be the upc codes I cut from the bottom strips to make flags. Utilize all of the paper - not only the true paper but the strips too!

Yep There Is an Echo!

Hello! Long Time No Blog!
This last month of summer has been busy getting the last bit of fun things done that I wanted to do with the girls. We had Service Camp at church (super busy for me since I led the card making class), started fall dance classes, went to all of the doctor appts we had to go to (not fun!), visited the Sea Center, Hermann Park to ride the train and pedal boats, and had some back to school meetings and classroom time (kinda fun!).
So needless to say my scrapping time has taken a nose dive! Although two different Design Team assignments had Echo Park lines in them! Which made it super simple for me to finish bunches of layouts and cards because I just think Echo Park is the bee's knees!
First up is Apron Strings Bigger Than A Breadbox Kit for August. It was filled with Echo Park Paradise Beach and October Afternoon 9 to 5.
The Echo Park (with a smidge of October Afternoon thrown in) was perfect for our pictures from Priscilla's birthday at a water park!

Snakes On A Layout

It is the beginning of August which means a brand new sketch by Lucy Chesna at My Sketch World. This sketch was very simple and I left it simple! I kept wanting to add to it but I didn't which left alot of "white space" which I am not used to.
That leaves the focus on these pictures of Amory and Priscilla petting the snake. Amory loves everything creepy and crawly. She has been bitten by a spider three seperate times and a by a lizard once. She is the "bug whisperer" in our house. If there is a bug of any kind she gently picks it up and takes it outside.
She doesn't use her love of creepy crawlies for good all the time. No, of course not. She thinks it is hilarious to put June Bugs on her sister who squeals and runs!
But I digress ...

My Sketch World Sketch Reveal!

Good evening! I have been forehead deep in planning, prepping, and preparing for Priscilla's thirteenth birthday party. It was a huge success although we had to hold it indoors due to the outer bands of tropical depression making everything outside a swamp!

But I did stop long enough to create a layout using the sketch from July 1st My Sketch World. This layout was interpreted in so many ways by the other design team ladies - really great inspiration! I changed it up a bit to include four photos instead of the one photo.

Blew the Dust Off ...

It has been a month (well a month tommorow) since I have written or posted antthing on my poor neglected blog. Life has been crazy - we will leave it at that. And today in the quiet of morning I thought to myself I will take today for me to do what I want. So here I am finally posting on my blog.

I wanted to share three layouts that I did using the Apron Strings Smaller than a Breadbox Kit.  

Jam packed with October Afternoon Sarsaparilla, Basic Grey Konnichiwa and Echo Park Take Note the ideas started swirling in my head right away!

The October Afternoon was a must for the trip to the rodeo with Grandma and Grandpa, the Basic Grey was perfect for Disney on Ice (Tangled = Lanterns!), and the Echo Park combined with the October Afternoon was perfect for Fourth of July pictures (Red, White and Blue!).

This first layout is of the trip to the rodeo - I wanted to do several different layouts but when I have so many pictures and too many layouts to do combining pics into one layout is best!

I wanted to do just one layout of Amory and Grandpa in her pig nose and title it "What a Bunch of Hams" I wanted to do another layout of the girls milking the cow and title it "You Squeeze What?". But the title block from Echo Park's Take Note was perfect because these pictures do conjure up a thousand words to describe them!

On to Fourth of July Pictures - I have some more layouts of the Fourth to do but two checked off is two checked off!

This first layout is of my older daughter in the pie eating contest at our church's Fourth of July celebration.

Famous last words after eating a chocolate pie with her face - "I am never eating pie again" although she ate pie an hour later after dinner....hmmm

I used a Keep Calm sign as my inspiration for the title

And this next one - my older daughter running a tattoo parlour in the church gym. I couldn't be prouder ...
And my younger daughter the first one in line - announcing she wants a tatoo like Mom. Yep I could be prouder ....

Here is the layout I created! I sat down with the sketch and it had a mind of its own! I have the basics there but moved the title to include that fabulous large flashcard from October Afternoon. My party favor is a cupcake liner. They are not just for holding delicious baked goods any more! I tucked a mini cupcake liner behind my journaling circle to create a bit of a ruffle. What can you use your cupcake liner for?

In Your Birthday Suit ....

I am getting a bit of scrappy time in - between the hours of 11 pm and 1 am anyway! With the kids home I am their chief entertainment maker. The little one is content to craft with me for a short time (max is one hour) but the big one complains alot that she is bored so off we go! Christian and I took all six kids (Kami's, Sarah's and ours) to Fun Jump and then to Chili's for lunch on Tuesday, over to Christian's today with all seven kids (Kami's, Sarah's and ours) to have beignets (or benyays as the case may be), quiche and a dance party, tommorow we are headed to the Children's Museum (with just my own and one of Sarah's and Christian will have hers and one more) and picnic in Hermann Park. My parents will pick up the girls on Friday morning and take them to the rodeo - I have a long list of what I would like to do after they are picked up!

On to the layouts I have scrapped! I scrapped pictures of my Dad's birthday back in June. My Dad has had some health problems so every picture of him that I have is very precious! He wanted to celebrate turning sixty by jumping out of plane. Really? We compromised - dinner and cake with a guy in a parachute on it! The girls picked out the cake and told The Cake Lady exactly how he should look. I think it turned out fabulous!

For this one I used a sketch from A Walk Down Memory Lane by the fabulous Lucy Chesna. I turned it on its side to use with the pictures I had. I also added a picture of the cake the girls created.

The other side in the scrapbook is this next layout of the birthday boy! I used a sketch from My Scraps and More and of course flipped and added a picture!

I cannot tell you how happy these pictures make me - there is such joy in them!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Good afternoon everyone! The Let's Scrap blog Hop is over but all good things must come to an end. I wanted to say thank you to each and everyone of you for hopping by, giving me some advice on liquid glue, and following my blog! The next layout is of my oldest daughter, myself and both of the grandparents. We are all dressed up to go into the city to see Mama Mia. I used a title of a song from Mama Mia for my title and the lyrics of the song for the journaling.

I used the sketch from Feb. 11 - and didn't move things around ... much!

This next layout is of my littlest graduating from preschool. I will admit it was a total blubberfest! 'Nuf said!

I used the sketch from Feb. 15 - and turned it on its side and moved the title.
