You Are Authentique!

There are three things I would like to say about the pictures on this layout -
1. Why doesn't anyone say "take off your sunglasses" for the picture - no I don't remember I have them on - I need help with that remembering thing.
2. This was and is the last time Amory and Priscilla had matching dresses. I believe therapy is in order for the the bigger one. She said it was the most embarrassing thing ever (I guess since the previous hour when she had told me that about something totally unrelated).
3. Yes these are pictures from Easter - last year. I have a goal to scrap all pictures from events from the previous year before they roll around again. This goal might go the same direction as my limit of two mochas per week - I have had four. Don't judge ....

And on to the layout! I got really happy mail - twice - from Authentique. They had a referral program on their blog and I sent them the name of the scrappy store down the road. My neighbor works there and I told her she needed Authentique in her store. She apparently said yes (due to the fact that they need more of my money - um yeah!) and I won the big prize!

I am so excited because Authentique's Blissful is Priscilla's school colors and the rest of it is well yummy! I took some of my prize and created a layout for the sketch challenge on their blog.

On The Scrapbook Train!

Hello everyone! I wanted to share another layout I did using the Apron Strings January Smaller than a Breadbox kit. I really liked this sketch from Let's Scrap - it allowed me to use my pictures without cropping them too much! Which makes the layout go to together just that much faster! These pictures are from an outing with my aunt (second mother) over the Christmas break. Her visit was not long enough in my opinion!

I wanted to give you a close up the title. I placed my chipboard letters on small squares of pattern paper and connected them with twine. Reminds me of the train cars all in a row!

You did what to the penguins?

Do you know how many penguins and trees can be cut out during one episode of The Bachelor? And that is Bachelor without commercials because really who watches commercials anymore? The answer is Twenty two penguins and eleven trees!
And what I am going to do with all those fussy cut penguins? Make One birthday card, twelve Valentines, and two thank you cards, that's what! And today i would love to show you the Valentines I made.
I used the scraps left from my Apron Strings' January Smaller than a Breadbox to make these fun valentines. I printed my sentiment on an 8 1/2 X 11 piece of cardstock four times. I cut out 3 1/2 X 5 rectangles and wrapped around dollar store sunglasses.

I think they will be a hit with the three year olds in my class and with Amory's friends too!

Trees, Penguins Oh My!

Guess what I have been scrapping with? The Apron Strings Smaller than a Breadbox kit! Full of Jillibean Soup, October Afternoon, and Fancy Pants. Loved the penguins, polka dots and fun happy colors in this one! I was able to make Christmas layouts, an Easter layout, birthday cards, a teacher gift, and valentine cards! Now that is some kind of versatility in a kit!

Over the next week I will be sharing what I made with the kit - hopefully one or two things a day - if all the stars line up and the Earth stays balanced - haha!

First a Christmas layout - the hunt for the perfect tree. Not one where all the needles fall off....

And the next - a birthday card! These penguins are the cutest! After dinner and coffee with my girlfriends on Monday I came home to watch the Bachelor (yes I am a diehard fan) and cut out penguins. You will be seeing these fun little penguins on cards - everything from this birthday card to a thank you card and Valentines too!
I used a gold Happy Birthday rub on on the tree turned pennant flag and small flag underneath. Inside reads "Hope Your Day Is Cool!" I used a sketch from the sketch*a*thon at Scrapfriendzy. The sweet two year old who received it today loved the birds on the card - so I consider this card a success!

Feeling Pretty

Finally pictures of the big one! Priscilla, being the typical preteen, is not fond of me taking pictures of her. So when I do get those pictures they are very precious! And they needed some very special scrapping supplies to showcase them! I pulled out Pretty Little Studio's Scaredy Cat Papers, Starburst Number Tags, Vintage Circle Tags, and one cutout from the Hopscotch collection and bits and pieces from other companies. I used a sketch from Pretty Little Studio to complete this layout of my sassy and sweet Priscilla.

The next layout is from Easter - I figure should get these photos scrapped before the next Easter rolls around! Once again using my Pretty Little Studio goodies- a fave of mine for awhile now. And I am so glad that I have time to scrap and enjoy the goodies! I used the Hopscotch collection this time too - 1" inch vintage circles and cutout tags. This is the left side of a double layout (sketch from Let's Scrap) - you can see the whole layout below.

New Year, New Sketch

Welcome to 2012! Where did 2011 go? I am not sure but I am ready for fresh new starts and beginnings of great things! The first new thing I would like to share is a brand new sketch and my layout I created with it!

The new sketch is from My Sketch World. I loved the sketch and changed a few things - like two pictures instead of one and the square behind the photo - mine is a circle!

And the layout of my stunning beautiful daughter. Priscilla's birthday was a spa day and my best friend Christian was in charge of hair and make up. She did a spectacular job! Almost too spectacular - it was hard to see Priscilla look so grown up. My wish is for my girls to stay little for ever but we all know that doesn't happen.

Four I am Thankful!

So while the kids were off from school, and we were not going anywhere I scrapped! It was wonderful! I had made worksheets and crafts for Amory to do ahead of time so she sat at her little desk at my elbow and created and learned away. Priscilla was happy with playing on the computer, reading a book, and laying around. A very low maintenance kid! So now I want to share!

This first layout is about that younger more high maintenance kid - she is bit wacky too! So I wanted to take a shower so I stuck Amory in my bed with her Little Ponies video which means I have exactly 32 minutes to get completely ready before the video ends. This was the day the video stopped working as a babysitter. I came out of the shower to find her GONE! A deep breath and then the yell AMORY. A little "I am in the kitchen". I walk over to the kitchen wrapped in a towel and find her "making dinner" in my bra. The only thing that really bothered me is that she knew to stuff it. Another deep breath ...

I used a sketch and papers from Lily Bee.

I added a picture of Amory in her chef hat. This was actually mine from college but she has adopted and uses everytime she helps me cook.

The next layout is of Amory too. Just two more silly photos that I could not pass up scrapping! I used a sketch from Pretty Little Studio. The clouds flashcard that the title is situated on is from Pretty Little Studio too - love those dern flashcards!

The next layout is of Amory's preschool graduation. A very happy day with alot of tears. My baby is growing up! I used Sketch #180 from Creative Scrappers to create my layout.

Last but not least is a layout with pictures from our trip to Bayou Wildlife. It is a wildlife park where we load up in a tram to feed animals. Amory does not like any of it except for the zebras at the end. She endures it all just for a glimpse of the zebra! Thank you zebra for making her so happy!I used an inspiration challenge from Paper Variety (I used the colors as my inspiration and I included leaves on my project) and Sketch #181 from Creative Scrappers for this layout.

I'll Have The Soup Please!

Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you a few more layouts I did using my Apron Strings Bigger than a Breadbox kit! Along with the We R Memory Keepers' Autumn Splendor Collection we received Jillibean Soup's Apple Cheddar Soup collection. The Jillibean soup was so versatile - I scrapped a fall activity (coming soon), a field trip to an animal park and Christmas pictures! Love when you can do that!

This first layout is of the fieldtrip to Bayou Wildlife Park - we all loaded up on a bumpy train pulled by a jeep and fed animals of all kinds. My mom was with us and Amory and she had the same opinion - feed the animals once you do not have to do it again!

The next layout is of pictures taken at Christmas. This is my Aunt with my girls. We see Bonnie Mae just once a year at Christmas and we make the most of our time together. These were random shots taken throughout the week of playing "school", storytime before bed, and cuddles on the couch. Although Bonnie Mae lives many many miles away we see her facial expressions and walk in Priscilla. When I saw the "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" sticker I knew where it was going!

Not A Full Dozen!

I wanted to share this layout I did using My Mind's Eye papers and diecuts. These are pictures of Amory at her pre-k's egg hunt. The teacher told each child to only get eight eggs so Athere was alot of grabbing and counting going on! Amory's little friend Maya helped recount her eggs - just to make sure!

Behind the Egg Count tag is a small paper bag that holds the class picture along with names and a journaling spot.

I turned the sketch on its side and added a few more pictures than the sketch called for but I could not use just one picture to tell the story of

Long time - No Blog!

So I have been busy - let me show you!

Costumes were made, trunk or treat props designed, built, and were a huge success, Halloween party planned and was huge amounts of fun, and I have been scrapping (a bit!).

Costumes were made - Amory was a 50's Car Hop and Priscilla was a Circus Ringmaster (or Sergeant Pepper- there were several people confused so we just went with it)

Our Trunk or Treat Idea - A "Car"nival! We had a spin a wheel for candy, spiders, bats, eyeballs, or monster brains! We also had a beanbag game but there weren't many players for that!

The Halloween Party with all of my best friends who's children are Amory's friends. We had yummy lasagne, bone breadsticks and a spooktacular salad bar.

Here is the motley crew - Ian, Charlie, Jordan, and Amory. Would you give these children any more candy? I wouldn't either - I think they have had enough!

So that is what I have been doing! But in the midst of all this I got my November Bigger than a Breadbox kit from Apron Strings. I had so much fun with this kit - it has Jillibean Soup - Apple Cheddar Soup and We R Memory Keepers - Autumn Splendor in it. I want to show you one layout I did with the We R Memory Keepers papers. I completed this layout with Paper Variety's current challenge in mind to create a paper project that includes a family member's title. In my title I included the two different names my girls use for my dad. Amory calls him Phil (pronuonced "Feel" - gotta love having a Texan accent!), and Priscilla has always called him Grandpa Lake Jackson. I used a sketch from Sketch Inspirations for the layout too.

Also I wanted to share with you the November sketch for My Sketch World! I have already used this sketch again (you will be seeing that later this month!) - it is great for scraps!

Here is my layout usig the ever wonderful Simple Stories papers. They are a favorite of mine - so easy for me to use in my layouts! I turned the layout on the side and scrapped these pictures of Amory and I decorating her bike for the 4th of July Bike parade.

Furry and Feathered Friends

Hello everyone! I wanted to share a layout and a card I made with the Lily Bee Harvest Market papers - just one of the three collections in the Apron Strings October kit.

I used the papers to scraps these pictures of Amory at our Nature Center learning about fur and camouflage. Throughout the class she would ask is this real after petting each skin and that is where I got the play on words title!

For my layout I used a a sketch from the Lily Bee Blog.

I also made a card with my yummy Lily Bee papers and letter stickers. I love love owls and so does Amory's teacher! So I made her a Happy "Owl - Oween" card. I used a sketch from the Pagemaps blog. I flipped it and replaced the button strip with my owl card.

Hello everyone! I worked with Authentique's Blissful paper collection for the first time this month - it was just one of the three paper collections in my Apron Strings October kit. It was love at first sight for three reasons -
- My daughter's school colors are gold, black, and grey and I have seen no other yellow, black and grey paper that is so beautiful!

I used the sketch I found on the Authentique blog to create a layout to celebrate my daughter's Science Achievement award. We are so proud of her - she plans to combine her love of science and being an actress. How you ask? By becoming a meteorologist - she can be on TV and love science too!

Good Afternoon everyone! Lomg time no post! I have been crazy busy planning and creating costumes for Priscilla's play - The Hobbit showing October 14th, 15th, and 16th.
I am still finishing up Christmas photos - my goal is to get them done before Christmas comes around again! We'll see if I accomplish this!
Using the October sketch from My Sketch World I scrapped these pictures of Amory and my dad aka Grandpa Phil. They are two halves of a whole - he is in her top favorites along with brocolli, pizza, purple and reading!

Sitting down to scrapbook was hard for me this summer. Too much to do and so little time to do it! So I have been making up for it! Right now I am completing challenges at three crops - Scrapdango's School's In 2011, My Sketch World's ABC Crop, and Dixie Pieces' Camp Dixie Pieces. I am getting alot done that is for sure!
This layout uses a sketch from Apron Strings' 4 Sketches, 20 Days but one from Day #6 that the deadline has come and gone! Have I mentioned I am a slow scrapper?

Fetch a Sketch!

Sketches are truly my scrappy best friend! I rarely start a layout without a sketch either from a fabulous sketch site (always my first choice!) or of my own creation (those are generally not my first choice!).

This first layout is just one of many Christmas layouts that I have set a goal for myself to get done before the next Christmas rolls around! I used the September 1st sketch from My Sketch World. I used four pictures instead of the original two pictures because I simply never can decide which picture to use! Why not use them all? Considering I have run completely out of Christmas papers (except for scraps which will made into some tag, card, or gift) I am using what I have! I am also entering this in my favorite color challenge at The Paper Variety - currently two of my fav colors are pink and turquoise. Although with the dotted pattern paper we get just a bit of all my other favorites that I can't decide between!

Speaking of My Sketch World join us for the ABC Crop all September long on our forum. Super fun challenges and terrific prizes! The next two layouts were made for challenges there and challenges elsewhere too!

At the Apron Strings blog Lori is hosting "4 Sketches, 20 Days". In Lori's words - "Here's how it works, each week I'll give you a sketch. Each day will be a suggestion on how to reuse the same sketch - I mean really why reinvent the wheel everytime? By the end of the month, you'll have, hopefully, 20 pages. . .plus two."
I used the first sketch to complete the challenge at Apron Strings, crop challenges at My Sketch World, Scrapdango, and My Scraps and More and a blog challenge to use your favorite photos at The Paper Variety! These photos are my favorite because this is the last time Amory and I will visit Froberg's and pick strawberries with our MOMS Club friends because Amory has started Kindergarten. A bittersweet day and the pictures to remember it by.

Day 1 - to use the sketch as is! Done and done!

And Day 2 - Replace at least one 4x6 photo with two 2x3's. I actually used two 3X4's. And two 3.25X5.25's. Listening to directions was never my strong suit which is probably why I run with scissors and wake up with glitter in my hair and stickers stuck to me - just saying! I also completed the blog challenge at The Paper Variety to use your favorite company. I am loving Simple Stories because it is the right mix of bright and happy and vintage grungy!

Freaky Fast!

Hello everyone! Since school started and I am quite alone for most of the day :( I am scrapping again! Just a an hour (or two) since there is so much else to do but pictures are getting scrapped!

I have been getting alot of pages done quickly by using The Freaky Fast Formulas on The ScrapRoom blog and the Goodbye to Summer Crop at My Scraps and More.

The freaky fast formulas are genius - and in their words a few steps to follow -

1. Collect a few pics.

2. Cut your patterned paper to the dimensions stated above.
3. Push the paper around your cardstock till you achieve the look you want, or simply copy {the designer - Frances} layout below!
4. Adhere and EMBELLISH! It is that easy!!

Here is August's formula ...

1. Cardstock Background
2. 5 1/2 X 9 1/2 patterned paper
3. 2 1/2 X 10 patterned paper
4. 1 1/2 X 11 patterned paper

Cards - You Made Cards?

Yes I did! And pigs didn't fly! :)

But first before cards I wanted to share with you a layout of my sweet Priscilla and her cupcake cake. The reason she is laughing (it is not my horrible cake decorating skills!) is because Faith stopped at the fridge on the way and got the milk. Priscilla thought it was funny for some reason and all Faith could say was you have to have milk if you have cake! So we are not sure why Priscilla was so tickled by Faith's appearance with the jug of milk but she was!

I used the Apron Strings August Smaller Than a Breadbox Kit to create my layout. I used the Jillibean Spotted Owl Soup Papers as well as an Echo Park Splash sticker that was in the add ons for the kit. That sticker is found in the title - I believe it read Just Add Water so I covered Water with a label from Pretty Little Studio and the word Milk!

The owls were begging to be fussy cut - I love their expressions. It seems like they wanted to be anywhere else then sitting a perch that I created with some twine! And since I could not fussy cut the balloon string of the middle owl I used embroidery floss to recreate the string.

Who's Doing the Happy Dance?

ME - That's Who!

Lucy at My Sketch World has asked me to be a layout designer for another term! I am so excited!
My Sketch World is like a family to me.

For the call the applicants had to create a never before seen layout from a "Lucy Sketch". I used the My Sketch World E -Book (find it here) which is never far from my reaches to create the layout below.

Using the Apron Strings Smaller than a Breadbox kit I pulled this together. I used Echo Park's Splash Line that was in the kit as well as a few googly eyes and letter stickers from my stash to record memories of our time at Grandma Lake Jackson's pool. Yes - our children named their grandparents by location. The only exception to that is my dad. Although he resides in Lake Jackson Amory calls him Phil (pronounced "feel").
I don't know - I just live here!

So the layout is below - the long title serves as journaling as well. Gotta love a double duty title!

A Banner Day!

It has been quite sometime since I blogged! Summer has got me running way too much! I have scratched off Camp Counselor as a possible career choice. All this planning and doing has got me exhausted and the kids keep asking for more, more, more!

In the evening one of them (or sometimes both of them) will ask me what we are doing tommorow. And I have to pull this out of my childhood -

Pinky: "Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?"

The Brain: "The same thing we do every night, Pinky—try to take over the world!"

Although I say "The same thing we do every day, {insert child's name who is asking}—try to take over the world!"

They shake their head, assume I have finally fallen off my rocker, and go away (YEAH!) for about 2.4 minutes.

And then the child returns and says "So you don't know what we are doing?"
I generally scream or start pulling on my hair at this point in time. That is when they stop asking! Until the next time they ask ...

So that all leads to my inability to scrap much of anything. For sanity sake I had to sit down at my scrappy desk and get some of this scrappiness out of me!
I did this two page layout of Amory's End of the Soccer Season Party using the Apron Strings July Bigger Than A Breadbox Kit. I completed the current challenge at Paper Variety by using stitches (under my banner), a multi photo layout, and journaling strips.

The next layout is of Amory too. We visit Miller Outdoor Theatre about twice a month. It is an open air theatre that is free! We take a lunch, watch the show and sometimes play in the park afterwards. Always a fun outing. On this visit Amory was chosen to go on stage with the actors to learn some dances. She was so proud of herself! I used a sketch from Sassy Lil Sketches for this layout - with another banner! I sewed this a bit differently then the trophy layout above - I think I like this sewing better!

MMM Smell the Salt Air?

I live thirty minutes from the Gulf Coast but the only Salt Air I am enjoying right now is Cosmo Cricket's found in Apron Strings Bigger Than a Breadbox kit! For my first layout I scrapped just a few of the Disney pictures - only about 800 more to go! I used a sketch from Sketchy Thursdays to inspire my layout. I say inspire because instead of banners I used splashes and instead of two pictures I used three but the spirit of the sketch is still there!

The next layout I made from the Apron Strings Bigger Than a Breadbox kit is some fun pictures of Amory at her end of school water day. I just love progression shots and wanted to line them up side by side. The middle shot is my favorite! I used a Pagemaps sketch for this layout - once again I added a few things and took away a few things so it was more of an inspiration! I also completed Workout #47 at Scrapfit to create a layout with a good amount of yellow to represent ‘summer’ and put a clock on this layout to represent ‘time’. The clock is tucked under the cluster of embellies at the bottom.

With the leftovers I created a thank you card for my friend (Christian - turn away, you can see it tommorow when it arrives at your house!). The mermaids were so cute and I wanted to make sure they were shown off! I used the sentiment "You Maid Our Day" for a little play on words.I used a sketch from Crop Stop that I turned on its side where I won Cream of the Crop last week!

Christmas in July

Considering it is July and you could fry an egg on the sidewalk it is very hard for me to even produce a Christmasy train of thought. However a sketch from My Sketch World and a challenge from Paper Variety got the Christmas train of thought rolling. Hopefully there will be more Christmas layouts done in the next few days - cross your fingers!

And considering it is July I have little to no Christmas paper to speak of - that is where the stash comes in! I used Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe that I won at Candy Shoppe Designs Challenge Blog. It was perfect for these Christmas morning pictures of Amory. Her facial expressions are priceless! And what she said as she pulled out the clothes and shoes was hilarious - I used it as the title!

Red, White, and Blue Just For You!

Hope the Fourth of July was a happy sparkly boomin good time for all! Ours was happy but no sparklin or boomin for us because of the ban on fireworks. We could have parked our car, boarded a bus and watched the professional show with thousands of others in a field but we don't do well in large crowds.

I have a layout to share with you that I created with the Apron Strings Designs Larger Than a Breadbox Kit. Everything on the layout is from the kit except for the "scale" I cut from the Pink Paislee's Hometown Summer papers that was in Apron Strings Kit last month.

I used a sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches to scrap the pictures of my daughter Amory.

I also completed two more challenges with this layout. Crop Stop's Challenge #26 to make your projects using your national colors. Red, White and Blue, of course! The second challenge I completed was ScrapFit WWU #9 to create a layout, card or other project focusing on making embellishments from patterned paper. I cut out a "scale" (formerly a thermometer!) from pattern paper, and created pinwheels from pattern paper as well.

Elephant Butts and Noise - A Trip to the Zoo!

How is that for a title to draw you in, huh?

I have two layouts to share with you from our trip to the zoo. The first uses Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer Collection. I won this a just a little bit ago and I could not wait to play with it. I added a tag, trim and letters from my stash to create this fun layout. I am entering this in ScrapFit's challenge #45 to use something from around the house. The blue bias tape and flower trim was from my sewing box! I used Sketch 122 from The Scrappiest (I had to add one more photo) -

The next layout is currently a favorite - I love the way it turned out! I completed five challenges with this one - that might be a record for me! To make it easy I am going to list them!

Paper Variety and Crop Stop - Project inspired by Summer. What's more summery than red,white and blue and a trip to the zoo?
The Kraft Journal - "Something Old, Something New" (think combining old and new products on a single project). I used old Mind's Eye paper (red scalloped edge) and diecuts (ticket and flower) with new Mind's Eye paper (everything else!). And I stuck everything on kraft paper - which in my humble opinion seems to go with everything!

A stressful day and an evening of scrapbooking to ease it...

I put together the following layout of Amory and her best buddy Ian. These pictures were taken at the zoo back in February - it was unseasonably hot even then! I completed several challenges which is always good to get the brain some exercise!

I used the sketch challenge from the My Mind's Eye blog with the theme of song lyrics. I used "We Go Together" from the movie Grease. This song is the challenge song from Scrap It With A Song . I was able to use that as a starting point for my journaling which including the title says We Go Together like zebras and stripes, giraffes and spots, lions and tigers. For the challenge at Paper Variety the challenge was to use mixed alphas - at least two. I used four!

It has been a long time since I blogged - almost a month! I have been busy acting as camp counselor for my children because bored children equals a crazy mother! Today's summer camp activity was taping a sheet of packing paper (Victor bought a huge roll to protect the floors while he remodels the bathroom) to my sewing table and let Amory paint. Priscilla went to the zoo with her youth group. And I scrapped - it felt good to get my hands on my paper and glue again! I scrapped just a few of the pictures from our trip to the strawberry patch. I used a sketch from Sweet Peach Crop Shop, a challenge from Crop Suey to use Summer to inspire you (what is more summery than fresh fruits and bright colrs?!), and I was trying to complete this for Paper Variety's fruity challenge but missed the deadline by a mile!

Another layout I have done this month was for My Sketch World's June 1 sketch. This is Amory and her little friend Ian in front of the lion cage at the zoo. These two children were so upset that we came during the lion's nap time. Amory said they should be up and roaring not sleeping! Silly lions!

Good evening to everyone! I am so glad to be sitting and chatting with you fine folks. It has been one of those Sundays where you have more to do than time to do it. But being the super parents that Victor and I are we got to Sunday School and church (on time!), remembered to feed everyone lunch (we have forgotten before!), left Priscilla at church to decorate for senior banquet (and remembered to pick her up!), Amory to her soccer game, and then to a birthday party (where I got a sunburn - ouch!). Which leads me to this first layout about myself and my super co parent Victor.Titled hey u its u & me, me & u, u & me it is a reminder to ourselves that it is us against the world - we are a team. Not always a a team that sees eye to eye but that is where the communication comes in! I used a sketch from Pagemaps and the fabulous May kit from Apron Strings which included Sassafras Lass Ellie's Tale. Everything is from the kit except the sunshine flash card and the letter stickers!

And the next layout is about my goofy kid - I wish that I could say she was dropped on her head when she was a baby but I can't. So we'll just say Amory comes by being crazy naturally through genetics. And then I'll leave it up to whomever reads this to decide which side of the family the crazy genetics come from - for that I have no comment! So this layout is yet another page about her one liners that leave us in stitches and her wondering why we are the crazy ones for laughing so hard! This layout uses a sketch from the Sassafras Lass blog. I used a piece of Sassafras Lass Ellie's Tale that I had left and alot of the Apple Jack collection.

A Belated Happy Mother's Day

I say that because these three cards are for my best friends and although I had every intention of dropping them off on Sunday - that plan never came to fruition! So Christian, Kami and Sarah will get their cards sometime in the near future!
So here are the cards- using an image from a challenge at My Sketch World's NSD 2011 Crop. The inside of the card reads "To One of the Finest Mothers I Know". For this first card I used a sketch from Cardabilites and a challenge from Lily Bee to Create a Mother's Day Card! I used a piece of Pearls & Heels paper from the Domestic Bliss collection.

For the next one I used a sketch from Crop Stop.

And last but not least this one I made for my Mother in Law. I used digi stamp image from Squigglefly that is another challenge at My Sketch World's NSD Crop 2011. I am entering this in Paper Variety's challenge to use mists, inks, or paint on your project. I used watercolors to fill in the image!

The last bit of a kit

Good evening ladies! I have been up since 3 am watching the royal wedding. Yes I am one of those crazies who just love the romance of it all. And it was a beautiful event - and I liked everything about Catherine's wedding apparel - everything!

I have two more layouts made with the Apron Strings Smaller than a Breadbox April kit. These are the papers from We R MemoryKeepers Peep line. So Cute! And amazingly enough I did no Easter pages with it!

The first layout is of our first trip to the zoo - we go as soon as it gets warm enough because too soon it will be too warm. And too warm means hot grumpy kids and animals hiding in the shade! I love ths picture of Amory and her best little friends outlined against the glass. This will be one of those we will pull out when they are all about to graduate or something like that just to be sappy!

I used this sketch from The Scrappiest to complete this layout.

Feels good to be getting my hands on some paper, adhesive and all the bits and bobs in my stash! I combined several challenges to complete my two page layout about our family's tradition of making popcorn people for Santa instead of the cookie baking most people do. I don't bake - it is generally a disaster so I stay away from it!

For the left side of "Making Popcorn People" I used the April 21st sketch from Sassy Little Sketches. I changed it up just a bit to accommodate my photos.

I used October Afternoon, Imaginisce, Cosmo Cricket papers and embellishments from October Afternoon, Heidi Grace Designs, Scenic Route and a garage sale bag of buttons!

Good morning everyone! I wanted to share more layouts that I did using the Apron Strings April Smaller than a Breadbox kit. It is full of We R Memory Keeper’s “Peep”, My Little Shoebox’s “Home Tweet Home” and My Mind’s Eye’s “Stella & Rose”. I want to show you what I did with the My Little Shoebox’s “Home Tweet Home” today.

It was kismet that the girls and I visited our Nature Center over Spring Break and attended a class about nests and eggs. This line was perfect to scrap all those photos!

The first layout is pictures of the girls coming face to face with a real nest (Amory said "Mom it is a real live nest" - I didn't explain that a live thing is living - way too complicated!). Amory was ready to jump in, Priscilla was kind of umm yeah don't really want to touch that! Gotta love preteens!

The next layout is of the girls creating their own nests. They gathered bits and pieces of twigs, leaves, grass, and paper just like a bird using chopsticks to mimic a bird beak. Then they glued in onto a rolled down paper bag. The girls had a really good time creating their nests - glueing almost too much on for the paper bag nest to handle!

The 15th Means A New Sketch!

A new sketch on the fifteenth and yep it's the nineteenth. That means everything is back to normal - I am scrapping and I am running behind schedule! Lucy at My Sketch World has created another fabulous sketch - one that I used to scrap some favorite photos from Christmas. These pictures are of my grandmother -Mama Lois, my dad, brother, myself and my girls. I used Echo Park's Be Mine collection in the Apron Strings February smaller than a breadbox kit.

So it has been a looong time since I blogged. I was overwhelmed with everything that was going on but I am on the downward slide of way too much going on and fixing to get on the ladder to relax and enjoy this time!

I have been scrapping - two card orders for customers and layouts using the April kit from Apron Strings. I swear Lori is a mind reader! Every time I get a peek at what she has in store for the newest kit I think she read my mind!

In the April Smaller than a Bread Box Kit I got to play with We R Memory Keeper’s “Peep” and My Little Shoebox’s “Home Tweet Home” and finally My Mind’s Eye’s “Stella & Rose”. And I want to start with the layouts I did using My Mind's Eye.

The first layout is of my two girls - I took some pictures of them at the park one afternoon during Spring Break. I titled it "You Two" simply because I often say those two words with a small sigh when these two get together and make me crazy! I am entering this in a challenge at Crop Suey as well to make your embellishments from scraps. I made my own large paper corner as well as flowers fussy cut from the pattern in the paper.

The next layout I did with the Mind's Eye papers was just of Amory. I used the challenge from the Mind's Eye blog to use their sketch and the theme April Showers.

Here is their sketch created by Anam Stubbington. I turned it on its side to accommodate my pictures.

For the theme of April Showers I used a poem called "You Are My Rainbow". Rainbows always come after showers, right? The poem is one that is close to my heart and says alot in a just a few short lines. I dedicate this poem to Amory because she is my rainbow. She came in after a stormy dark time of depression that followed the birth of her older sister that lasted for years. She is fun colorful little person that has chased those clouds away and given me back the sun. Thank you Amory!

I also used challenges at Paper Variety to use flowers and Scrapfit to use homemade flowers. I made one ribbon rose and fussy cut a few more flowers from pattern paper to satisfy those challenges!

Admitting Defeat...

I have been so good about completing all of the challenges on Apron Strings Birthday Celebration. This week I must admit defeat for I only got three out of the five done. :( Although I did combine those challenges with challenges from other sites so at least I was multitasking!

The first layout was for Birthday Party Day #16 to add your scrapbook version of balloons by incorporating round items; at least two pieces must be larger than 3 inches. This layout, done with a sketch from Sketch Inspiration has plenty of circles. Four three inch ones and two that are smaller.

Santa Was Here

The next layout is of the girls on Christmas Eve in front of Grandma's tree. This one was for Birthday Party Day #17 to incorporate a box, or block, on your layout. This layout, made from a sketch found on ScrapFit contains a large block in the middle in which I placed the photos.

This last layout is a "makes my heart feel good" layout. This is my dad patiently building a gingerbread house with my girls. Such a sweet memory. This one was for Birthday Party Day #15 to create a layout using at least three different patterned papers. Using a sketch from Sketchy Thursdays I used pieces and bits left from the October Afternoon Very Merry collection. It was one of my very favorites!

And last but not least a card - a rarity indeed! I do make them all the time I just rarely throw them up here! But here is a card that I made for Amory's little friend who is budding bug scientist! I used a sketch from Cardabilities and a challenge to used a stamped sentiment and scallops on a card from Paper Variety.

Just trekking along...

Good evening to all of you! I had a mocha way too late in the day so I really feel like I can conquer the world right now! However conquering the world is loud, my family is trying to sleep, and I must do with conquering my Christmas pictures! And that is quite all right with me!

I used more challenges from Apron Strings Birthday Challenges and a sketch challenge from Paper Variety to scrap these pictures.

The first layout is pictures from Santa's Pancake Breakfast at church. The girls writing a list, asking if they can have more paper, and me saying really, more paper and Victor being used as a booster seat and spell check! Yep fun family time! This layout was for Birthday Party Day #10 to scraplift a layout by this month's Guest Designer - Krisit Bergin-Smith. I used the layout as a sketch and created my layout on her design.

Our Wish List

The next layout are those pictures you take every year to see how the kiddos change. I take pictures of Amory with candy canes every year because she has a serious addiction! She will start asking for them Mid November and throughout December she will eat three a day at least. No cavities - knock on wood! And as soon as the sugar hits she goes cuckoo. I mean sky high hyper! Crazy kid! This layout was done for Birthday Party Day #12 to use at least four 1-2" strips of paper; no flames required! The first is my scallop strip under my title, the second(stripe), third (cream) and fourth (peppermint) are layered on top of each other at the bottom of the page. I also used a sketch from Paper Variety on this one!

A layout, a poem - must be your lucky day! Hello and Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone. I have worn green all day - although with kids and making rainbow fingerprint art at playgroup this morning it has been two different green shirts. So that would mean I have worn everything green I own! :)

Now more details on the layout! I used the March 15th sketch from My Sketch World which I'll be using again and again because it was that fabulous! Here is the sketch -

Fabulous, right? So many options - you have to go check out what the other design team members did with the sketch! I included six photos on mine - which happens to be Apron Strings Birthday Party Day #11 challenge to create a layout using 6 or more photos.
This layout is pictures from our trip to the Christmas Tree Farm with our MOMS Club group. We did some Texas sledding (dirt hill and as Amory called it the blue plate), some scarecrow building, tree decorating, and a hayride. We also roasted hot dogs and made shmores (as Amory calls them) but that is on another layout!

Thank you to the hubs for entertaining the girls all weekend - I know it doesn't need to be said but thank you anyway! I like them a whole lot more going into this spring break week with them home!
Thank you to Lori at Apron Strings for having this birthday celebration and issueing challenges every day all week! I finished another scrapbook!

And so we begin! Another five layouts done - in record time - two days - for me that is record time! And I love them all - this first one especially!

This one was done for Apron Strings Birthday Party Day #8 - to incorporate swirls on your page; cut them, draw them, stitch them, outline them with bling, buttons, butterflies, whatever. This challenge I saved for last because I am not a swirl girl! I can never make them look right however I have done 2 swirls in the past two weeks and I am pleased with the outcome!I used Crate Paper's Restoration which I have been keeping uncut and untouched waiting for the perfect layout. I found it - these pictures of Amory and I from the Christmas tree farm!

And the next one - gotta love that face! This layout was done for Birthday Party Day #9 to add a bit of chaos to your page by putting something on an angle; a photo, embellies, journaling, title, a whole block of stuff. You decide. Um yeah I can do chaos - I live in chaos due in part to the child in the photo! :) I used October Afternoon on this - another one of those I was "saving". When in fact I just couldn't force myself to cut it up!

The next layout I did was random shots from Halloween - notice MOM in the shot - holy cow! And the title is reference to our zany, or if you will, batty house! This one was for Birthday Party Day #6 to create a layout using banners. I used lots of different lines on this - I would like to say one of everything from the halloween folder!

And the next is happy one for me - the Halloween BBQ we had with my best friends, their husbands, and kids. This one was for Birthday Party Day #7 to add some excitement to your next layout by using at least three ribbons on your layout. No problemo - I have so much ribbon I need to use it! I used Jenni Bowlin from the Apron Strings August 2010 kit and added blue ball trim ribbon and yellow ribbon to the red twill ribbon in the kit!

And last but not least the trick or treat page - I used the March 1st sketch from My Sketch World for this one as well as Birthday Party Day #5 to incorporate scrapbook's version of sprinkles: use at least 10 buttons or brads or, dare I say, eyelets on your layout. I used exactly ten buttons mixed in with my scrap paper circles. There was originally twelve but two got lost somewhere between when I was threading them in front of the TV and the layout!

I was inspired by my friend Jan's washboard. Her's however is filled with love and sweetness where as mine is filled with me screaming TAKE A NUMBER silently. I used Jillibean Soup's old world cabbage stew collection of which the numbers and bird houses are still my absolute favorites to make magnets and decorate an old washboard to put all the pieces of life on that I need to take care of.

Soccer practice, waiting in car rider lines, and American Idol lends alot of time to fussy cutting. So that is what I did - I cut out the numbers and placed them on a sheet of romano cheese (okay who is getting hungry?) from the pasta fagioli collection . I used sprouts, fussy cut birdhouses and a few of the numbers I had cut out to create my magnets.

Celebrating Another Birthday!

This time at Apron Strings - now six years old! Lori is having challenges and giving out birthday presents! I got my scrap on and completed four layouts!

On Day 1 the challenge was to use ribbon, maybe in a way that's new for you - pleat it, create a frame, layered, woven, whatever. I pleated some bright green ribbon on this LO!

On Day 2 the challenge was to use a sketch - I used this sketch to create a layout about carving our pumpkin!

On Day 3 the challenge was to make your journaling more than an afterthought. Showcase it in a way that is different for you. I actually did not put any journaling which is highly unusual for me - I enjoy telling the story, writing down something funny that happened, all the details. My Sketch World Sketch A Thon

It makes me nervous to look at the box of photos waiting to be scrapped - it is full and then I have Disney photos in an album waiting to be scrapped too. So I was determined to make a big dent in the stack - and I did with the help of the My Sketch World Sketch-a-Thon. Lucy posted twenty sketches throughout February and they are all due on March 3rd! So here we go!

Day 11 -

And here is mine - a layout using some Sassafrass Lass about Victor teasing Priscilla's hair into 80's big hair for halloween. Don't Light a Match was my other idea for a title - there was so much hairspray!

Day 20 -

Here is mine - using some Bella Blvd and other bits and pieces from my stash! These are my parents and the girls at the pumpkin patch. It is tradition to go with them every year and tradition for me to bring home a wagon load of pumpkins because Grandpa cannot say no!

Day 13 -

Here is mine - Priscilla in the pumpkin patch. Isn't she gorgeous? And oh so grown up! I used more Bella Blvd for this one. I am also entering this in the challenge on the Apron Strings blog and at Paper Variety where the challenge was to sew on your page!

Day 7 -

Here is mine- another pumpkin patch picture. I used some Jillibean Soup on this one - love me some Jillibean! I take this picture every year so we can see just how much they are growing! And boy are they growing - sometimes it is hard to see how much they change when you are with them on a daily basis so putting them up to a measuring stick is always a surprise.

Rainbow Birthday Was The Pot of Gold For Our Birthday Girl!

This beautiful girl is five today ... I am still questioning how that happened... and when it happened.

She requested a rainbow birthday party back in November so I have been dreaming up ideas since then and it was a success! We borrowed a rainbow afghan from Kami - her great grandmother made it - isn't it beautiful? I halved donuts and made them into rainbows, we had rainbow goldfish, fruit loops and M&Ms to make your own rainbow snack mix, and since I have more cupcake liners and ribbon than sense the bottom two pics show that!
The centerpiece is styrofoam balls with cupcake liners turned inside out and pinned all over. I stuck those into a black pot of gold coins. The goody boxes were the little take out boxes from Micheal's - a sunny yellow of course - and decorated with ribbons, colored dots, and ribbon. I loved that project the most because Amory helped!

We colored pictures and painted suncatchers to make our rainbows in the windows at home!

We played pin the cloud on the rainbow - or on the wall - you know which ever!

We had a six layer kool aid cake - that was fun!

Treats for Valentine's Day

Hello everyone - I wanted to show you a few more projects I made with my February Bigger than a Breadbox kit at Apron Strings. I made two mailboxes and six treat boxes for Amory to give to friends and teachers. These are the mailboxes found in the dollar spot at Target - I won't tell you how many I bought just to have on hand! But I will say two of them have found new homes with Amory's teachers! They were quite simple to make. (directions below!)

I am also entering the above mailbox in two challenges - one at Paper Variety using a cupcake as inspiration and at Crop Suey using nine items. My nine items were pattern paper, stamps, chipboard letters, felt, gem, punches, inking, sewing and glimmer mist.

Supplies and Directions for Mailboxes:

Supplies:

Target Mailbox (any metal mailbox will do, but you’ll have to check the dimensions may be different)
sticky strip (I used red liner tape)
scissors (preferably two pairs, one that is Teflon coated for cutting the sticky strip) and paper trimmer
paper (I used coordinating designs from We R Memory Keepers that was in the Kit)
Whatever else you want to use to decorate - I used embellishments and the chipboard letters from the kit.
3/4 inch circle punch
Directions:
1. Choose the paper you want to cover the body of your mailbox. Cut a strip that is 4×12.

2. Hold your strip of paper up against the mailbox so that one of the ends would be about halfway across the bottom. Smoosh (a very technical term!) the paper against the base of the flag (where the nail/screw is).

3. Flip your paper over and punch out the “mark” the flag base left using your 3/4 inch hole punch. After you punch the hole, cut a slit from the edge of the paper in to the hole.

4. Line the outside edge of the paper with sticky tape. (you could use another adhesive, but I think this works the best)

5. Start putting the paper on the mailbox by taking only the backing off the sticky strip around the flag hole. You want to make sure you get that part on correctly. After you get the flag area stuck down well, continue removing the sticky tape backing and adhering the paper.

6. Continue wrapping the paper all the way around the mailbox. It helps to do both sides at once and go slowly to make sure the paper stays straight.

7. Take your another piece of paper and trace the lid of the mailbox onto the back of the paper. Repeat for other end.

8. Cut them out – you will want to ‘undercut’ them a bit so that they don’t overlap the edges. I still hand to sand the edges a bit to get them to fit right. Adhere the same way you did the paper piece on the mailbox.

9. At this point you can decorate how you would like!

Another project I made were these treat boxes. I used little boxes I found at the dollar store in the wedding section. I covered them with the bits and pieces of the We R Memory Keepers paper in the Apron Strings Kit. I love the little sayings that were on the Together paper. I cut them and set them aside right away because I knew I wanted to use them on a Valentine project!

A new kit & new inspiration

Hello long time no blog! I have been scrapping up a storm with the February Bigger Than a Breadbox Kit from Apron Strings. I made four one page layouts, one two page layouts, two Valentine mailboxes, six Valentine gift boxes, and two cards with this kit! And honestly I could make one more layout by using a piece of my own cardstock and the pieces left over from the kit! Check out the kit - in it is We R Memory Keepers and Fancy Pants!

I scrapped pictures from our Disney trip, from the Christmas tree farm and ones from a family breakfast at Christmas. This kit was very versatile! The first layout I want to show you is from our Disney Trip. This is Victor and the girls sharing a Lady and the Tramp moment at the restaurant we ate at while in Epcot's Italy. Everything from the kit plus some add ons! The Maya Mist in Granny Smith Apple Green was sprayed directly on the heart to give it some shimmer. Although it didn't turn out quite like I thought - the letters are covered in stickles and then sprayed with the mist. They are not green like I thought - but still pretty!

Good evening everyone! On my ever growing to do list I have my parent's European vacation to scrap. My goal is Mother's Day. Cross your fingers! I have chosen to do alot of the pages in SEI's Moravia line because it is the perfect colors, style, and best of all Mom likes it! This page is of my Mom and Dad at one of the many castles they visited - I left the journaling box empty so she could tell the story. I used this sketch as a jumping off point -

Getting Scrappy!

So my scrapping new year's resolutions are as follows - clean up after each page/project/card, complete a layout for an event before it comes around again the next year (ie First Day of School pages done before another first day of school happens) and to use what I got! So far so good and we are nearing the end of January. The cleaning up happened for the first two layouts of 2011 and then I got excited and wanted to jump right in to the next layout and did not clean as I go. So I clean after each session which is a good tweak on the resolutions and one I think I can stick with. So I wanted to show you a few layouts I did using what I had - Apron Strings kits! These first two layouts feature the October 2010 kit (well part of it!) with lots of Studio Calico.

The first one is of Amory's first day. I love the title work on this. I used that wonderful My Pretty Little Studio card (came with the kit) and some OLD stickers I had to create a playful title that goes along with the preschool theme - F is for First Day of Preschool!

For this one I used a sketch from The Scrappiest:

This second layout is Priscilla's first day of sixth grade- look at her making a uniform look good! :) Inside the envelope is a picture of all the stuff we had to buy for junior high - school supplies, uniforms, etc. It was alot! I added some Prima packaging to the kit as well as some October Afternoon rub on letters, stickers, and a journaling card.

This next layout I used bits and pieces from two Apron Strings kits - the November 2010 and August 2010 kits. These are pictures from the fire station's open house. It was a day I certainly needed back up - she was crazy! She slid down the pole and took off and I was still up at the top yelling stay right there (that didn't happen), the medical helicopter landed in the field and she started toward it a bit early, and so on. So most of the pictures when there were some were a blur! I did get these of her dressed as a firefighter though - simply because the suit weighed her down and she couldn't run off!

A Spitting Snowman and a Sketch-A-Thon

Hello everyone! Another layout today and an announcement. First the announcement - My Sketch World is turning five (Amory wants to point that she too will be five in February) and having a super duper Sketch-A-Thon to celebrate. I know that I will get alot done next month with all of Lucy's terrific sketches - I hope you will join us!

And speaking of Lucy's brilliant sketches I wanted to show you a layout I made with the Apron Strings January Smaller than a Breadbox kit (this kit just kept going and going!) for the Inspiration Station this month. The inspiration station is a mid month feature we do to show you what else can be done with the sketch. I chose to turn the original sketch upside down and add more pictures. I used a paper pieced snowman to finish it off!

While at Disney we visited The Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course and got soaked by the spitting snowman. When we went to get our ball out of the hole this snowman would spit on us. Amory enjoyed getting spit on so we sent her in to get all the balls after we figured out where the water was coming from!

As I said in my last post I got three layouts done this weekend - and for me thats alot! This is the second layout I completed - the last one of the summer pics (yeah!). These are pictures from our church's Fourth of July picnic - it is a family tradition to go. We eat hot dogs or hamburgers, have eating contests, dunking booth, and fireworks. Good crazy fun!

I used a sketch challenge from Sweet Peach Crop Shop for this layout. I also used an ad inspiration challenge from Crop Suey to chose my colors.

Coordinates Collections January Blog Hop Challenge

Good evening ladies! I have been a scrapping Tasmanian devil this weekend completing three layouts and for me that's alot! This is the first layout I completed this weekend - about my sweet Amory. She is a spunky little thing and I have taken the fact that she will be five years old in less than a month fairly hard. Where did all my time go with her? She is my helpful super hero helping me to clean and do laundry, my field trip buddy when we go on our adventures, she is my reality check - reminding that slowing down and just playing Candy Land is the best thing to do when there is too much to do. I love her so much and I really should not be this sad planning a birthday party (the theme is rainbows by the way!) but I am. So what do we scrappers do for therapy - find our favorite pictures and scrap them!

Apron Strings Designs and Sketch Inspiration!

Apron Strings is sponsoring the prize for Sketch Inspiration this week. The Apron Strings Sous Chefs were asked to follow the sketch and create some examples! This sketch was great to use up the very last pieces of my January kit. Here is the sketch we had to use:

And here is my layout that I did. This is a scrapbook page more about my failure of trying to make Amory a dainty tea party participant when there was piles of dirt less than 10 feet away! I lost her to the dirt shortly after making a hat and decorating cupcakes and right before tiny sandwiches and punch! Our plan was to have the boys outside participating in a monster truck rally and the girls inside having a tea party. Best laid plans and all of that! :) The bright colors of this kit were perfect for these pictures and the pearls and flower lent a dainty touch to an otherwise dirty bright fun page!

And I would be remiss in showing you the cupcake that was created before the dirt calling her name became too loud to ignore. It was not a yummy cupcake - it was a crunchy cupcake due to the fact that half a jar of sprinkles was placed ever so carefully (yes that is sarcasm) on top. Once again the fun Apron Strings January kit was perfect for this layout too!

Can I tell you how much I have enjoyed the Apron Strings January kit? I hope your answer was yes because I'm telling you anyway! I made five one page layouts, one two page layout, a tag mini album, and I am working on a sixth layout right now! It was easy to create with because it had paper collections that I have been drooling over and dreaming up what I would do with - Crate Paper's Snow Day, My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy and Belle Blvd's Socialite. Check out this little peak of all the fun you get!

I wanted to share my favorite layout I made with this kit. I love these pictures of Amory and how seriously she took building her egg carton ant. I listed the steps she took to create her masterpiece. Everything is included in the kit except the letter stickers and thickers!

The next layout is made with the Bella Blvd part of the kit. The yummy turquoises were perfect to scrapbook our adventure to the Sea Center. Finally some pictures of Priscilla - although most of them were taken without her knowledge. Gotta love preteens! The tulle included in the kit lost its distinguished reputation and was turned into fishing net for this fishy layout. Once again everything included in the kit except the mixed up letter title!

Good morning to all of you! I had fun this weekend reading all of your sweet comments about my Apron Strings layouts I wanted to bring you another! Happy New Year!

So I feel like this lady! All but one of the piles has been put up - the fresh sheets and dirty sheets put where they need to go since we played bed switcheroo with family in town, the ornament/decoration pile put up, the new clothes and clothes that had to be moved for hiding presents put up, jewelry pile transfered to new jewelry armoire, the scrapbook/craft room pile still staring at me. I think I will tackle it when the kiddos return to school. The four year old is way too much help! I am working on several projects right now but I can't show you ... yet! So since the scrapping I have is unavailable I'd like to share my top ten of 2010! These are my fave projects of the past year - it was hard to choose! I hope you enjoy!

Scrappin Across The Holidays!

I know that I am not the only scrapper with a backlog of pictures but I used to be able to keep up and stay pretty current. Not anymore .. I have pictures from this summer until halloween plus all of our Disney photos and now Christmas. What is a girl to do? Oh yeah scrap more ....

I scrapped a page today, a card and gift tags yesterday, and I feel one page closer to be caught up - I won't even tell you how many more of those pages I need to do before I am caught up.
I used a sketch from Sketch Inspiration for this layout - I did end up turning it on its side though. I also used a challenge from Crop Suey to use the word family on a layout. This crazy picture of my family fit the bill. We were trying to take pictures of our jack o lantern with the night shot feature on. The pictures of the jack o lantern were so so but this picture was so typical of my nutty bunch and begged to be scrapped! Check out Priscilla's hair - that is after being teased and coerced into big hair for her 80's costume. It was rat's nest for sure and adds to the craziness! Love my crazy family....

And a card (well actually cards) for Amory's teachers. The small card with the ornaments is one that Amory and I made at the make n take at our favorite brick and mortar scrapbook store. "Hello Miss Dusty!," Amory says. I placed that small card on the larger white square with some scraps and some yummy velvet ribbon. I used a sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches.

Withdrawal Cured!

You know the symptoms - dreaming of making the perfect embellishment cluster, creating titles for situations you see while at the grocery store "CAN She Do It" when seeing a woman climbing the shelves to reach that last can of whatever, and drawing out layouts on napkins when you should be paying attention to whatever is being said by whomever that is sitting across from you. Yes I am speaking of the withdrawal from scrapbooking. And I was cured ... finally. I stole a few hours and created some layouts for my parents' European vacation scrapbook. I hope to have it done by Christmas. We shall see.

So the first layout is using a sketch from the Pagemaps blog. I used it for these two photos taken at the Sforza Castle in Milan Italy. The first picture being one of the real life statues on the grounds and the other an unfinished statue by Michelangelo. The clever title was thought up by my husband (he wanted to make sure he got credit) so we used a play on the words "is that you?".

The next two layouts are of my parents visit to the BMW museum in Germany. This was a HUGE deal for my dad - so I had to use the title Carpe Diem on this first one. He certainly did seize the day and enjoyed himself immensely. I used a sketch from Creative Scrappers for this one.

More Disney Pics - Priscilla's drama skills at their finest!

While standing in line to meet Buzz Lightyear there were several photo ops that Priscilla could not deny. Pictures with Priscilla were hit and miss - sometimes I got a face and a please Mom put the camera away or I got a very enthusiatic take a picture Mom. Hot or cold, ecstatic or grumpy, never a gray area.

So Priscilla got to use all of her acting talent in these pictures!

And finally Buzz Lightyear! Amory, after meeting Buzz, kept saying, "He was big plastic Mom. In the movie he was this big." - holding her hands about 12 inches apart. And he really is big plastic. She was very excited by this.

Sunday Is A Day of Rest ...

Thank you for this quiet day of rest and relaxation - I need it! The Christmas season is in full swing here at our house - we have picked out our tree, decorated it and have watered it ALOT! The girls still haven't figured out who is in charge of that so the tree gets alot of drinks. Amory however is most definitely in charge of fallen needles - attacking them with her bust duster (dustbuster) if she sees them. I have been Christmas shopping alot getting only a few things on each trip before declaring defeat to the crowds, waving my white flag and retreating to my crazy house. How are the holidays shaping up at your house? Are you baking (I don't do that - baking for me is always a disaster), are you shopping, are you decorating - whatever it is I hope that it is a merry time!

I finished one layout this week - at this rate I will have summer pics scrapped by next summer - and one card made with the scraps. This layout uses a sketch from The Scrappiest and the August Bigger than a Breadbox Kit from Apron Strings with a few bits and pieces from my stash thrown in like the "at the park sticker" from SRM Stickers.

So this is a layout of the girls petting either a baby alligator or crocodile - can't remember which. I was a nervous momma - his little teeth were like needles. Notice in the background Kami holding on to Trevor with a death grip - we were afraid he would love the baby too much! And the baby wouldn't love him back - KWIM? Other animals that were there in our class was a scorpion - it glowed in the dark! A Tree Frog - it climbed up the dry erase board!

With the scraps I made a card to send to my aunt eventually - on the front you can see the two little houses with me on one and u on the other. Another SRM Sticker "Let's Pretend" starts the sentiment inside which reads ... "we were just steps apart rather than miles apart."

And now as promised I would share a few pics from our trip to Disney. I have decided to do a few a day with their stories so you can relive the magic!

The last park we visited was Animal Kingdom (my favorite!) and Amory was so excited to see the dragons (she was unimpressed with the kimono dragon), the bats, and the tigers. When we arrived at the tiger part of our walk the guide informed us the tiger was resting out of sight because it was getting too warm. Amory was a bit sad until we walked around the corner and looked out the window and the tiger walked right up to the glass. Amory and the tiger were nose to nose with only the glass between them. I being a nervous momma wanted to know how strong the glass was! She was so happy to have seen her tiger up close - very up close!

It's the first - that Means a New Sketch!

Okay it really is the second and in my defense I thought it was the first day of December until about an hour ago. I seem to be a bit overwhelmed and I truly need some time to take a deep breath and have a silent night. We came home from Disney (it was truly magical - I will be posting a few of the 778 pictures I took soon!) last Wednesday, Thanksgiving and Amory got the 24 stomach bug on Thursday, Black Friday Sales and a Thanksgiving for just the four of us on Friday, Tangled the movie (a fab movie - you got to see it) on Saturday and Priscilla got the 24 stomach bug very late(almost Sunday), Sunday I got the stomach bug late, Monday I was a mess - achy and sick, on Tuesday Victor got the bug and I felt better and did some Christmas shopping, paid bills etc., and on Wednesday MOMS Club meeting and laundry and degerm the house, and subbed today at Amory's school. Somewhere in there I have done lots of laundry from our trip. Anyone else tired - I am! So I am just glad I am only one day off and not more!

Lucy has put out some new fun sketches at My Sketch World and I can't wait to share! The first a layout sketch. This layout is of my friend Christian catching a flying squirrel at a local nature center class we took all the kids to. I think this will be the last time she volunteers for anything!

Workout #33

Good Morning Ladies! Welcome to Workout #33 at ScrapFit! It is a vintage ad inspiration challenge. For this workout you have to use this vintage Christmas ad as inspiration for your LO or card. Use it as a sketch, use the colors, make it about the holidays or however it inspires you!

I did a layout about slinkies - my brother always finds that one gift the girls love that you would have never guessed they would! And this was no exception! However after playing with them all day they smelled like nickels! I created some swirls with silver wire to mimic the slinky and used the light blue, green and yellow from the ad.

Well this is a bittersweet day for me because I am super excited to announce Workout #33, but really sad to say that this is my last month being the Head Coach here at scrapFIT! That is right things have gotten so busy that I have decided to hang up my workout shoes. I am very pleased that instead of just shutting down scrapFIT a good scrappy friend is taking it over. I couldn't bear the thought of just closing shop after all the hard work that me and the FITgirls have put into it. So with much excitment I am happy to say that Sara Zenger will be taking over January 1st, 2011. Starting today her and I are going to be working together to make it a very smooth transition! Sara has been with scrapFIT as a part of the FITgirl team since August and I know Sara is going to do fantastic things with scrapFIT!

Disney here we come!

The bags are packed, the kids are excited, Mom and Dad are fairly prepared so Disney here we come! But first I wanted to show you something - a something that is too embarrassing to post but I'll do it anyway! In this post we had to do a layout with what is on our desk. There were a few of you that said really??? and I have to say yes sadly yes. I work in a disaster zone until it threatens bodily harm. It is at that point now and the only way I can scrap is with a nifty slide out desk that I am lucky to have. So here is the pic of the desk - you might want to put down any and all beverages because you might spit them on the computer.

And now with all of the Echo Park product from Apron Strings Bigger than a Breadbox kit gone except for two rub ons, a journaling card and a 2 X 4 piece of blue paper gone I have one last layout to show you! I punched a bunch of 3/4 inch circles (Dancing with the Stars lends alot of time to mindless paper cutting!) and sewed them around the edge for a border and used the Sundae Challenge on Apron Strings to determine the rest of the embellishments. My list was neutral cardstock, epoxy embellishment, brads and chipboard. I used chipboard circles to frame the rub ons in the kit as well as frame a fav pic of my oldest playing in the water - she is a super cool person so mainly she watched the little ones and laid out in the water soaking up the rays. I love that I can catch her being a kid sometimes!

Crunching Some Numbers

A Little Sidetracked ....

So I have a mile long list of things to do for our Disney trip - we're leaving next week! But I needed a break - a recharge of sorts. So I scrapped a few pics from Amory's first bowling trip. I used Sketch # 88 from The Scrappiest and a challenge from Apron Strings to use only what is in piles on your desk. And since I had Echo Park on my desk I will be entering this at Your Scrapbook Stash as well! Lucky for me I had been working on another layout of Amory (you can see this one on my blog for the Do the Hippity Hop Challenge Blog Hop on November 12-14 starting at Sassy Lil' Sketches) and some prizes and had big stacks to put away. So here is what I had on my desk and this is only a portion of what I had on the desk!

I had the August Bigger than a Breadbox Kit from Apron Strings, green sparkley letter stickers from a project I worked on with Amory, SRM stickers I won as a prize, my new I-Top stencils, and other bits and pieces from prizes and other projects. And this is what I came up with!

Oh Spare Me

On Amory's first visit to the bowling alley she found "throwing" the ball really really fun until she found the hand dryer. It was so disgusting - truly a mother cringing moment. But she was unfazed when I told her how many germs she was inhaling. Her response was "I'm eating air mom!". Still gross - you might be a bit cute but its still gross!

November First .... WHAT???

I mean seriously what happened to October? I vaguely remember pumpkins and costumes, I am still almost comatose from too much candy, and well its Texas so it is fall weather which means the temps are in the 80s. But November - really?

The first of any month means new sketches, new challenges, more scrappy fun and prizes!

At My Sketch World new sketches have come out and lots of fun events and contests are happening on the forum - you NEED to come check it out! Okay Sketches - the layout sketch had my head going! The two large rectangles could signify a before/after layout, two presents for a birthday layout, or a split personality page! The possibilities are limitless!

I went with a color scheme for my blocks - one with cool colors for the "water" and an orangey yellow for the "fire". I love these pics of my girls - check out how serious Amory is while putting out her "fire".

Where Is The Fire?

For the card layout all I have to say is scrap pile! The strips scream for those little strips of favorite paper that you cannot bear to part with!

I chose to do a wedding congrats card for a friend getting married this December. I used all scraps and didn't cut any of them - just used them the size they were. The inside reads "Congrats on getting the ring ring with the bling bling! Happy Wedding Day!"

On to challenges! ScrapFIT is having a super fun challenge this first part of the month. On Workout #31 you need to use some those shapes you normally don't see in a LO - triangles, hexagons, and pentagons. Since it is November use some FALL COLORS!

I chose to use some hexagons. This paper was originally black, turquoise, and red hexagons. I traced a hexagon onto orange and brown paper and pop dotted it over the original colors. These are pictures of my girlfriends and I at Painting with a Twist. A really really good time - they taught us how to paint a beautiful picture all the while drinking Mimosas! I used a sketch by Liz Chidester on The Sweet Peach Crop Shop Blog.

Have Scraps Will Scrap!

Mini Workout #5 on ScrapFIT is to make a Halloween or Fall embellishment (ex. Owl, Leaf, pumpkin) BUT you have to use scraps from either Workout# 30 or #31 (posted on the first of November) for this Mini Workout!!! This mini Workout will run from October 25 - November 5. The Fitgirl Team will vote on their favorite and the "WINNER" will be our Guest Fitgirl for Workout #32!!!

I made a pumpkin from my Workout #30 scraps by cutting three ovals, a piece of a border I punched, lots of ink and adding some wire vines.

I used the pumpkin to make another card for the set (these will be for teachers with gift cards inside) using a sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches.

Hello and happy day to all of you!We just returned from a birthday party and we will turn around and go out to a trick or treat party in the park tonight. But I wanted stop in and share a few things first. I have had a stuffed up head and chest and laying down just makes it so much worse so I have been up late scrappin! I have done a few challenges from Apron Strings and one of the sketches from The Scrappiest.

The first layout is action shots of Priscilla bowling technique - I wish I had gotten the resulting victory dance on film too! I used a digital stamp of the bowling pins and ball, colored them with watercolors and then covered the ball with glossy accents. This is for Apron Strings sketches on Thursday - this sketch is from Page Maps.

The Queen of Strikes

The next layout is of my parents and the girls at Priscilla's birthday breakfast at Cracker Barrell. I covered the chipboard circles in crackle paint. This one is for Tuesday's inspiration - orange, kraft and something round. Check, check, and check!

Family is Special

The next layout is of Priscilla dunking the pastor at the Fourth of July picnic at our church. Yep this child who cannot hit the broadside of a barn was able to hit the target! I used Sketch #84 from The Scrappiest.

Inspiration Station at My Sketch World

Good Saturday morning to everyone! Amory and I have just cleaned her art desk (it looked a bit like Mommy's with stacks dangerously close to toppling over!), her room (threw away quite a bit of broken toys - why is she so rough on her stuff?), and the living room (we had lots of tiny pieces of paper on the floor from our Frankenstein cards we made yesterday). Now I am resting (I have a cold and my chest aches and now I am trying to catch my breath) and chatting to you fine folks about the newest Inspiration Station at My Sketch World. Lucy takes her fabulous original sketches and changes them up a bit to show how you can use them in a different way. See the original sketches here. The sketch I had to work with was rotated from the original and the card layout had the same elements although they were straights lines with a circular element added.

My layout has pictures I just took of Amory at our MOMS Club Pumpkin party. Amory is such a good sport for me when I want to take pictures. Thank you Amory! I replaced the circular element with a pumpkin and the small linear element (bottom right) with a fence, some pumpkins and a cute squirrel. The title and subtitle is just one of the cheers Amory and I made up - everyone appreciated the first two and then after that interest waned. :)

Give Me A Treat Give Me A Trick Go Halloween

The card sketch was a breeze to pull off with my CupCards To Go kit that I won. I was hesitant to cut in and create with all the beautiful stuff in that little box. But I took a deep breath and did! The flower on my card is at the opposite side of the sketch due to a defective rub on.

What did you do this weekend?

Let me see - the girls went to Grandma and Grandpa Phil's this weekend. Victor and I had a fun date night - Olive Garden and Walmart - home by ten - we are party animals! On Saturday morning Victor went fishing and I went with my friend Sarah and her mom garage saleing - we had so much fun! I met up with Gma and Gpa late Saturday afternoon to get the girls and as custom we visited the punkin patch down the road from them. I had to bribe Amory to wear her pants - she was wearing some old gray shorts. What we won't do to get our kids to look good in the scrapbook! And I couldn't get any of my favorite pictures of her from behind because her shirt is turned around backwards so you won't see all the pizza stains. All in all I got 98 pictures in one hour - about 10 of them are really good! Here are a few of my favorites!

Don't you love when you get sweet pictures of your children? I mean of course you must be sneaky - they have an image to maintain! :) I caught this sweet moment while the girls were watching fireworks on Fourth of July. I used a sketch from Creative Scrappers and a challange from Dixie Pieces Glee Club. This week was Southern Gospel music as an inspiration with titles to choose from. I chose "You're My Best Friend" to signify the special bond between these two beautiful girls.

Halloween is a favorite for crafting! What other holiday can you use googly eyes with such abandon? Cute Halloween not scary Halloween - I am quite a chicken when it comes to anything scary! That is why I have been making lots of cute Halloween treats for Amory's little friends. And I have found no cuter punkins, skeletons, and all things supposed to be spooky than those on the American Crafts Boo paper line! I used the Boo paper to make lollipop covers for the Friday Challenge on the American Crafts blog.

Supplies: American Crafts Frank N. Stein paper (purple, punkins are fussy cut from), American Crafts Madame O. Ghoul paper (tombstones and dripping ooze is cut from), Heidi Grace -from 2006! (boo and spider stickers), lollipops, and googly eyes
Directions:
1. Cut strips of paper 2 1/2 inches by 6 inches.
2. Score and fold at 2 1/2 inches and 5 inches. It should look like a matchbook now!
3. Punch a small circle in the middle of strip on the 2 1/2 inch fold line (for lollipop stick).
4. Decorate front, wrap around lollipop, and adhere closed on back.

Give Peas A Chance!

Good evening everyone! I wanted to share a couple of things I've been working on. The first are baby shower invites based on an ad challenge at My Sketch World and using a sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches. My daughter Amory wanted to know why I was making Christmas cards - I guess with the red and green colors and big red bow they could be seen as Christmassy to a four year old!

Next up is a layout celebrating dirt - just one of the items that make Amory's top five. The other four being danger, the color purple, tic tacs, and church. Yep those are coming up on a layout too! For this layout I completed a challenge to use the title "All I Really Need" for Dixie Pieces Glee Club. Using a sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches I made a layout of Amory and I at our last Mommy and Me class at our local nature center. The class was all about mud - Amory was beside herself that she could make her own mud with just dirt and water. You could almost hear the wheels turning!

Following the Retail's Store Example!

So I am walking through Hobby Lobby because we were out of googly eyes in our craft box which is a level orange emergency. Running out of sequins is level red (just for comparison!). Anyhoo Hobby Lobby was dismantling and condensing the beautiful fall and Halloween displays to make room for more Christmas! Now don't get me wrong I love Christmas but not in October - let me enjoy the costumes, the candy, and the turkey before I have to think about stockings, wrapping paper and ham.

But I am now following the store's example and I am throwing a Christmas project out there for Cosmo Cricket's latest challenge to use Jolly By Golly or Mitten Weather in a project. I am using Jolly by Golly because I don't have the Mitten Weather collection and desperately need it - the purple in it would be perfect for my daughter! See post below for her top five favorites - purple is right there after danger!

I made these cookie decorating kits for my best friends because (a) I love them and their children (b) when I bake it is always a disaster - better they do it and live through eating them! and (c) ultimately I am hoping to get some cookies back as a thank you!

First I made a gift bag and then decorated it with the borders and elements from the Jolly by Golly line. I filled each one with icing, cookie mix and sprinkles. These would also make great teacher gifts that can be produced assembly line style! And as Amory says "They are super stinkin cute!"

Scrap A Lackin!

So my thought was that while Amory was in school I could scrapbook the day away - that is not the case! I do manage to make a few here and there but not like I thought! I am cleaning up around here (although it never looks that way!), planning our Disney trip (50 days away - I am SO excited), and playing with my friends (Happy Birthday Christian!). I did manage to scrap a bit yesterday and created these layouts based on challenges at Apron Strings. The first is Wednesday's sketch challenge - I think only the stripes of paper and three pics stacked are true to the sketch - other than that I veered off a bit!

Celebrate Freedom - Amory and Priscilla's party blowers at the fireworks show. Amory never could get the hang of it and then when she did - Victor and I wanted to destroy the party blower!

The next is Mondays challenge at Apron Strings to be inspired by print. Umm this one was difficult to wrap my brain around so I just thought I would use the orange of everyone's shirts as my inspiration! I used Apron Strings Bigger than a Bread Box kit from August ( I am lovin this Echo Park!) and created this layout about my birthday where there are no pics of me. Hmmm....

Going Green

Good morning everyone! It is a productive day in my house! Laundry is getting done and I am working on the computer simultaneously (and apparently using new big words!). Might be the humongous (see another one) mocha I got from McDonald's this morning! WooHoo! I wanted to share a few projects that I have been working on that reuse and recycle which is the current challenge at ScrapFit. The prize is from Paper Trunk for the paper colloection and sticker of your choice. Personally I wouldn't be able to decide between the Rockabilly or the Wrangler - it would be a hard choice for sure!

For the first project I reused a birdhouse I found at the Salvation Army for 59 cents. It was in desperate need of a renovation - it was screaming dress me up, love me and for 59 cents how could I say no? I used papers from Upsy Daisy Designs. I fussy cut the little birdies from their Gorgeous paper from the A Walk in the Park line and covered the bird house with papers from their Splendid paper from the A Walk in the Park line. The fruit label is from Graphic 45 and I covered the unpapered parts with tea stain crackle paint.

The next layout is my Amory - the herbivore! If I let her she would only eat fruits, vegetables and cheese. Not that I am complaining - far from it - she apparently has decided to eat her sister's share of fruits and vegetables so Priscilla won't have to suffer! What a nice sister! That leads me to this layout - Amory leading the 4th of July Bike Parade at church and then enjoying her watermelon treat after. Behind the large white journaling block is a small square shaped hole (huh?) where I cut the watermelon seeds from. Being green with our scrapping not only means recycling or reusing but being conscious of not wasting. I could have gotten another piece of black out but why use more paper than necessary?

The next layout is all about going green! I used packaging for my journaling block, I made the turtle work for my layout by covering her shell with a scrap of a green journaling block (she was turquoise) instead of using more supplies (and paper) to create my own, and used alot of older scraps that would have been destined for the trash.

Getting used to the quiet!

I can now say I am used to the quiet at my house three days a week while both of my kiddos are in school. I have been scrappin',cleaning up a bit, and doing the normal things like laundry and what not. I am getting pages done - and that feels good to fill the empty spots in the scrapbooks where only post it notes live right holding places for those picture and that layout.

The first layout I want to share is more Armand Bayou Nature Center pictures. YES I have alot but we love to go and I get so many pics and I can never decide which ones to scrap so I scrap them all! I used a sketch from The Scrappiest and a challenge from Apron Strings to use your oldest fall paper. I used Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg - not terribly old but the oldest for me!

This next layout was put together using all the Graphic 45 scraps I could find for A Walk Down Memory Lane's Graphic 45 Contest and using another sketch from The Scrappiest. You must put together a layout using 60% Graphic 45 - I used every last bit I had so I hope I win so I can restock! This is Amory and Grandma Lake Jackson (named according to where they live although my dad is not Grandpa - he is simply Phil pronounced "feel") playing checkers on the front porch of Cracker Barrell on Priscilla's birthday. I am not sure who won this game but we did know that Amory is a winner for having a Grandma who plays games, does messy crafts and makes and decorates sloppy cookies!

Inspiration Station at My Sketch World!

Sorry this is late I had some technical difficulties - just as I tell my husband the little people in the TV cannot hear him apparently the mice in the computer wheel can't hear me yell at them so I will not try scheduling things on Blogger again. Apparently they get lost (like the socks in the dryer) and you can never find them again so I am retyping this!

Anyhoo Lucy has a fabulous new feature on My Sketch World called Inspiration Station that is posted on the tenth and the twentieth of each month. As part of her Inspiration DT I was asked to take the original sketch and rotate to the left and use four pics instead of the one large. Here is the original sketch:

And this is what I saw when I rotated it to the left: On my own I took out two pics and the journaling strips and replaced an embellishment (now to the right of the picture) with a journaling block.

I created this layout about my husband's creativity in creating pools out of Christmas ornament storage boxes when no inflatable pools were to be found. If you think this is crazy you should see what he does with a piece of linoleum!

This is the birthday I created - I used a plastic needle Amory had in her beading kit that she never used (truth be told - really would I give that to a child? - ummm no!). I left everything in its original place not adding or taking away anything.
